Coined by Strauss and Howe, this term generally refers to the people born somewhere between 1980 and 2000. It is also called Generation Y OR Generation Next. The people belonging to this generation were born in the early 1980’s, the exact year being flexible across countries.

The Millennial generation’s size is larger than the Baby Boomer generation (the generation born post World War II during 1946-1964) due to high birth rate during the 1980s. For this reason, Millennial are called Echo Boomers.
Howe & Strauss predicted that Generation Next will become like the civil minded G.I. Generation. Although millennial characteristics vary across regions, however, compared to other generations most of them are:

The Millennial are also called Boomerang Generation/Peter Pan Generation as they live with their parents for a longer period compared to the earlier generations.
